Doin’ It In The Park
700+ PLAYGROUNDS. 500,000+ PLAYERS. 8,000,000 STORIES.
In New York City, pick-up basketball is not just a sport. It is a way of life. There are 700+ outdoor courts, and an estimated 500,000 players, the most loyal of which approach the game as a religion, and the playground as their church.
Doin’ It In The Park: Pick-Up Basketball, NYC lovingly uncovers this movement through the voices of playground legends (James “Fly” Williams, “Pee Wee” Kirkland, Corey “Homicide” Williams), NBA athletes (Brandon Jennings, Kenny Smith, Kenny Anderson), national sportswriters (Alex Wolff, Scoop Jackson), and most importantly the common ballplayer who dreams all day about getting off work so that he or she can call “next” game at their local schoolyard.

Using an unprecedented style of story telling, film weaves a tapestry of Web comments and response videos with reactions from fans and haters to map the controversial rise of an Internet folk hero.
